We currently have 280 students enrolled in our education program with one foreign and five local Khmer teachers. We offer academic sessions in the morning classes and the afternoon classes from Monday-Friday.
We teach additional Khmer, English, science, creative arts, sport, and basic conversation skills. We are opening a whole new world of knowledge to our students and offering them a love for learning.
According to the statistics, 47% of Cambodian students do not finish school. Our goal is to see that number go up and get all Khmer children to graduate from high school (12th grade) so that they can go on to college.
Improving the library facilities in local schools
The library in the local village school is the only possibility for children to research and learn more about what they see in the classroom or in their villages. The vast majority of these children do not own any books of their own, so this is a fantastic asset to the community. The children now have to sit on a very hard concrete floor while studying, so we would love to be able to lay a carpet down that is more suitable and comfortable for young children and provide seating arrangements.
We want to improve our library for our students to research by adding new books which will provide better resources for the children. They love having the opportunity to read and would really appreciated if you could help enhance their learning and building of this project. We can always use funding or donations of any types of books to add to the library.
Project Goals
The construction of our library will cost approximately $15,000 to build.
